About Smoke, Griddle & Grill
Welcome to Smoke, Griddle & Grill — a backyard cooking site built for everyday people who love good food, good company, and the smell of something incredible cooking outside.
I’m Joe, the guy behind Smoke, Griddle & Grill. I’ve been backyard cooking for about 14 years, and somewhere along the way, it went from “I’ll throw a few burgers on” to “let me plan an entire cook like I’m feeding a football team.
”And honestly? I love every part of it.
The prep. The seasoning. The smoke. The sizzle. The waiting. The flipping. The “don’t touch it yet, it’s almost done” moment. Sometimes the cook itself is more fun for me than actually eating the food.
Almost.
But the real reason I love it is simple: watching people enjoy what I made.
There’s nothing better than setting a tray of food down and hearing those little backyard sounds every cook lives for — the “oohs,” the “aahs,” the “what did you put on this?” and the one person who suddenly gets real quiet because they’re too busy taking another bite.
That’s what Smoke, Griddle & Grill is all about.
The Secret Ingredient
People love to talk about rubs, sauces, smoke wood, grill temps, sear marks, and secret family recipes. And don’t get me wrong — all of that matters.
But the real secret ingredient to good food?
Passion.
You can taste when someone actually cares about what they’re cooking. You can tell when the person behind the grill is having fun, paying attention, and cooking for more than just getting dinner on the table.
That’s the part I love most. It’s not just about feeding people. It’s about putting something in front of them that makes them stop, smile, and say, “Oh yeah, that’s good.”
Backyard Cooking Without the Nonsense
This site is built for regular home cooks. You don’t need a competition BBQ trailer, a $5,000 outdoor kitchen, or a garage full of gear to make great food.
If you’ve got a smoker, awesome.
If you’ve got a griddle, great.
If you’ve got a grill, a skillet, an oven, or just the will to make something that tastes better than takeout, you’re in the right place.
Smoke, Griddle & Grill is focused on approachable recipes that real people can actually make. That means clear instructions, practical tips, affordable ingredients, and options whenever possible for people cooking indoors or without fancy equipment.

Why I Started Smoke, Griddle & Grill
I started Smoke, Griddle & Grill because I wanted a place to share the kind of cooking I actually enjoy — backyard food that feels fun, bold, and doable.
There are plenty of BBQ sites out there that make everything feel complicated. This isn’t one of them. I’m not here to tell you there’s only one “right” way to cook something. I’m here to help you make better food, avoid common mistakes, and enjoy the process along the way.
Because at the end of the day, backyard cooking should be fun. It should smell amazing. It should bring people together. And if someone asks for seconds before they’ve even finished their first plate, you did something right.
Pull Up a Chair
Whether you’re brand new to BBQ or you’ve been cooking outside for years, I’m glad you’re here.
Smoke, Griddle & Grill is for the backyard cooks, the weekend warriors, the griddle addicts, the smoke chasers, the “I saw this recipe and had to try it” people, and anyone who believes food tastes better when it’s made with a little effort, a little patience, and a whole lot of passion.
So pull up a chair, grab a plate, and let’s make something worth talking about.
